Every once in a while, you meet pioneers who make a big difference around Cape Breton.

I really enjoy meeting "adventurers" who fit into that special category and two avid cyclists:

Jacques and Michelline Cote started  a bike club called  Velo Cape Breton (helping cyclists here andfrom around the world explore Cape Breton, have fun and promote good health all in one full swoop).

I went to their annual dinner (described elsewhere) to give them a Cabot Shores  "adventurers award"for their summer activities and for their daring during last year'sValentine's Getaway Weekend (they braved a snowstorm to be in our Bistro and Lodge) and then the next morning carried on their 4 seasons of adventure, by snowshoeing up the wilderness trail to Indian Brook Great Falls...

People’s Blue Grass | Folk Festival June 22-24

A two and half day experiential music  adventure into traditional and blues grass music, featuring some of North Americans best pickers and performers, featuring over 30 performances, selected showcases,  jam band development working toward  showcases, as well as instrument clinics and workshops. Everybody gets to listen, learn and play. One main stage,  three showcase stages. Accommodation and tenting available.

Explore the historical, cultural and natural riches of Cape Breton Island. Trek through old moose hunting camps and across creeks to beautiful waterfalls as you scan the trees for eagles’ nests. Learn about the indigenous Mi’kmaq people from elders who describe Mi’kmaq gatherings, trails and hunting practices, and hear stories and legends around the fire and inside a tipi. Cook out over an open fire, explore area waterways by ferry, canoe and kayak and share a dinner of Nova Scotia seafood with a Cape Breton fisherman whose family has five generations of experience in the trade.
